The complete printer with write/read function for transponder labels.
Food giants Metro and Walmart were the first – now manufacturers and suppliers all over the world prepare themselves for a new market of product labeling. In time for the autumn fairs worldwide cab Produkttechnik GmbH from Karlsruhe, Germany, introduces its new A-Series label and barcode printer with an RFID write/read function within frequency range of 13,56 MHz. It can store and retrieve data from transponders which conform to ISO Norm 15693 (e.g. Philips I-code SLI or Texas Instruments Tag-it HFI).
The activation is being carried out by the same PC software which manages the imprint by Active X with cabLabel or other label programms. This software enables the storage of the desired data on the transponder. It is also possible to retrieve data from a data base or external files and store them on the transponder. First of all the operability of the transponder is being verified. For that purpose the ID (unique number of the transponder) is being requested. As soon as the ID is passed back to the software the storage of the data takes place. Subsequently the data content is being verified automatically and the software startes (almost simultaneously) the printing of the selected label.
This solution allows all customers who work with label software to handle transponder labels with 13,56 MHz band as well. Due to the special design of the option all printers of the cab A-series, also existing printers, can be retrofitted at the cab factory.
Additionally a roll of transponder labels (Philips Icode SLI Transponder), the Software cabRFID® as well as drafts for cablabel, Codesoft and Easylabel come with the kit.
The printer is being connected via serial interface and Ethernet. The Ethernet connection is used for cabRFID® in order to print the label. The data on the transponder is being stored and retrieved via serial interface.
An integrated solution for host applications and direct programming is planned to be launched by the end of the year. With this solution the store and retrieve commands are implemented in the operating system of the printer. As soon as store/retrieve units with 868/915 MHz band are available a solution will be offered.
Summary
·RFID store/retrieve (write/read) unit for 13,56 MHz band
·Readable and writable via cabRFID Software
·RFID solution for 868 and 915 MHz band available soon
